Google Play closed testing checklist for 12 testers and production access.
Use this checklist before and during the 14-day testing window so your tester count, app readiness, policy links, feedback, and production-access answers stay organized.
01
Before upload
- Release candidate build is stable enough for outside testers
- Privacy policy, support email, and data safety answers are ready
- Core flows are smoke tested on at least one real Android device
- Tester instructions are written before the invite link is shared
02
Closed test setup
- Closed testing track is selected, not only internal testing
- Tester email list or opt-in path is ready
- Countries and regions match where testers can install
- At least 12 testers are opted in, with a buffer above the minimum
03
During the 14-day window
- Tester count is checked repeatedly
- Install, onboarding, login, and core app tasks are assigned
- Feedback is logged with device, OS, build number, and severity
- Critical bugs are fixed and retested before production access
04
Before production access
- The 14 continuous days are complete
- At least 12 testers are still opted in when applying
- Production-access answers include what testers tried and what changed
- Store listing, policy links, and screenshots match the actual app
Closed testing checklist FAQ
Does this checklist guarantee production access?
No. It helps you prepare a stronger closed test, but Google still reviews your app, policy readiness, and production-access request.
Should I keep more than 12 testers?
Yes. A buffer above 12 helps if a tester leaves, cannot install, or does not complete opt-in correctly.
Can I use this for client apps?
Yes. Agencies can use it as a handoff checklist before inviting testers or requesting production access.
Need the tester side handled too?
Move from checklist planning into managed tester coordination, opt-in tracking, and feedback collection for your Android launch.
